We look forward to drinking rosés each year, but inevitably some of the best come from the Bandol appellation. The wines possess a power and depth of flavor, while holding it all together elegantly. La Bastide Blanche is a great example of the quality found in this region. This wonderful wine is the work of Michel & Louis Bronzo, who purchased this property in the early 1970's. Bandol is unique in France in that it is the only area the mourvèdre grape must be dominant. The region is ideal for this sometimes difficult to mature grape. The warm summer days and stony soils are the perfect marriage for the heat-loving grape, allowing it to fully mature before harvest. This cuvée is elegant, yet capable of hanging with almost any summer indulgence. There are lovely strawberry notes entwined with a strong sense of minerals. Peppery notes add complexity, making this juicy wine hard to put down.
